Screenprinting Workshop with Emma Aldridge and Jacqui Dodds

Spend the day with Emma Aldridge and Jacqui Dodds, resident artists from the Pushing the Boundaries Group. Learn from their methods of screen printing using stencils.

You will create images by using torn & cut newsprint & other papers to create multiple layers on small edition prints and make a master design to work from to produce a 3-4 colour image. Cutting paper stencils can be used to create tight technical images or extremely free images.

This technique is particularly good for working at home as it avoids using photo emulsion for transferring your images to the screen and with practice can create sophisticated results. It also develops your cutting and knife skills.

You will need: An image as a starting point, no larger than A4, to work from

About the tutors: Emma's previous career was in theatre as a costume maker. She has now been printing for ten years, exhibiting nationally. Jacqui has extensive experience in tutoring workshops and exhibiting contemporary art in heritage contexts nationally.

Their work will be exhibited in the Barn Gallery & Cafe as well as the Art Shed Gallery at Mid Wales Arts alongside this workshop.
