Halloween Masks

This video tutorial featuring Megan Elinor, our artist in residence, is a follow along guide to making your own Day of the Dead inspired Halloween masks. Perfect for keeping children happy during the half-term break and full of tips for budding artists and sculptors.

In the video Megan, in her friendly and entertaining style, demonstrates how to create your very own Day of the Dead inspired Halloween mask. The step-by-step guide is easy to follow for adults and children alike and gives us a glimpse into the artists method and how her own approach too creativity.

You will need:

  • Cardboard
  • Muslin cloth
  • Stuffing foam
  • Copydex glue
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Paint or paint pens
  • Wool
  • Pom pom makers
  • Glue gun

Megan Elinor is a recently graduated textile artist and illustrator who has been in residence at Mid Wales Arts for the past two months. During her residency Megan has made a beautiful dress inspired by our resident peacocks, and her workshops with children on mask and headdress making have been one of the highlights of our recent programme. As an introduction to Megan’s work we have released a second short video in which Megan talks about what inspires her.
